Partner Visas for NZ
When it comes to travelling overseas in some circumstances it is something that most people don’t want to do alone and if you are looking to take your partner or spouse overseas then there are a range of options available to you. New Zealand acknowledges that many people may want to take their partner with them on their trip and offers a range of visa options to allow you to bring along with you a significant other, providing that you can show that you have been in a stable and genuine relationship for at least 12 months.
There is a range of criteria that comes into play when it comes to moving to New Zealand with your partner and this includes ensuring that you have both good character and health in addition to your partner being an eligible New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
One of the key factors behind a partner application is being able to prove the 12 month relationship requirement – that you have been in a relationship for at least 12 months prior to starting your application, this includes sharing joint financial commitments and demonstrating your commitment to each other.
Proving that you are in a genuine and on-going relationship is crucial to providing supporting evidence for your visa and you must also prove that your relationship is likely to last into the future. Proving that your relationship is genuine is easy and you can provide a range of information including joint bank account statements, statutory documents and investments to prove your commitment to each other.
Your family and friends can also provide evidence of your relationship and they can include stat decs which outline their commitment to you and how they have been involved in the nature of your relationship. This evidence can usually only be provided by members of the family or friends who are New Zealand citizens.
